I offer a friendly and professional service for adults (17+) and have proven success in helping clients with a wide range of issues. I am trained and work as an integrative relational counsellor and am passionate about helping our clients to improve their relationships and wellbeing. I come highly recommended by our clients evidenced by the testimonials and referrals we receive. I am a registered and accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP). I am also a trained and experienced Supervisor and provide supervision to counsellors and therapists..
Maria Farmery
I am an experienced counsellor who has worked with adults in a wide range of settings including the NHS, community based counselling services and the YMCA. I have also worked for several years Cruse Bereavement Service. I am an experienced supervisor and offer cost-effective one-to-one supervision for counsellors and therapists. I particularly specialise in helping those in private practice build their business.
My passion is empowering individuals to achieve their potential and I have a good understanding of juggling the demands of work and family. Prior to qualifying as a counsellor I worked as a Manager, motivating and coaching teams to success in both corporates organisations and smaller businesses.
My Qualifications and Approach
I have a BA Hons Degree in Integrative Relational Counselling which means I focus on using the therapeutic relationship to help you explore your concerns and issues. The approach is tailored to suit your needs and I use a range of tools from different therapeutic models including Pyshcodynamic, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy. I am also an experienced Supervisor and have completed Level 6 training in Supervision Skills. I follow the Hawkins & Shohet Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision and I specialise in helping counsellors establish and/or develop their private practice.
I have further qualifications in bereavement counselling skills, and personal coaching including NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming).

I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy, one of the leading professional bodies and I adhere to their code of ethical practice.
About Me
Surrey has been my home for the last 30 years both for work and as a parent. My childhood by contrast was spent living in many different countries and I have a real appreciation and interest in how different cultures and experiences influence us. I have a passion for the outdoors and nature and take a holistic approach in my work with clients.
Where is the practice in Surrey?
Counselling is offered both Online and face to face from our practice room at Carshalton Beeches (SM5 3NL), easily accessible from Banstead, Cheam, Wallington, Epsom, Ewell, Croydon, Purley, Morden and throughout the Sutton and Surrey are. There is free car parking available and is close to bus and train stations (Sutton and Carshalton Beeches). I also offer a Walk & Talk option, see separate page for details.
